Pregnancy Monitoring and Childbirth
Pregnancy Monitoring and Childbirth
Pregnancy monitoring includes regular medical check-ups to protect the health of both the mother and baby, identify potential risks in advance, and ensure a healthy delivery process. During pregnancy, the mother’s overall health, the baby’s development, and possible pregnancy-related complications should be closely monitored.
Important Stages of Pregnancy Monitoring
First Trimester (0-12 Weeks)
- Ultrasound evaluation of the gestational sac and baby’s heartbeat
- General health screening through blood tests
- First-trimester screening tests (double test) to assess the risk of genetic disorders
Second Trimester (13-27 Weeks)
- Detailed ultrasound examination of the baby’s organ development (20-week anomaly scan)
- Triple or quadruple screening tests for genetic disorder detection
- Glucose tolerance test (gestational diabetes screening)
Third Trimester (28-40 Weeks)
- Monitoring the baby’s growth and development
- Non-Stress Test (NST) to assess the baby’s heart rate
- Birth planning and determination of the delivery method
The Birth Process
The delivery method is determined based on the health condition of the mother and baby. There are two main types of delivery:
- Vaginal Birth: Preferred when the mother has suitable health conditions. The process occurs naturally, and the recovery time is usually shorter.
- Cesarean Section: Performed when necessary for the health of the mother or baby. It may be planned or done as an emergency procedure.
